Country Day NYC
Homeschooler Geography Study with PowerPoint Presentations, Potluck Lunch, & Country Jeopardy

Country Jeopardy

The final hour of Country Day is a Jeopardy game. All students who wish to participate will divide into two teams. All "answers" are questions, and the team must agree on the question and offer it as a group. Parents and older students will take turns creating the Jeopardy answers/questions in game based in PowerPoint. The CIA Fact File Web site and Wikipedia are common sources for getting the basic facts on a country, region, or time period for Jeopardy.

(See below for how to play the game.)

How to Play Country Day NYC Jeopardy

Students divide into two teams, roughly balanced with older and younger students, and total number on each team. The teams will be designated as "Team A" and "Team B."

Students decide each question as a group, and then offer one question as a group.

Students will be choose an "answer" in one of six categories, for between 100 and 500 points each. They will then present the group "question" for that answer.

For example:

—> The capital of the United States of America

—> What is Washington, D.C.?

Don't forget to "answer" with a question! Don't forget to discuss your question as a group first, and then offer one group question!

We will keep score on a white board (we'll make score categories, "Team A" and "Team B").

Playing the Game

Team A chooses a Category and Point amount. If they are able to provide the question for this answer, their team has that amount of points added to their score.

If Team A is unable to provide the correct question, Team B has an opportunity to do so. If they provide the correct question, they get that amount of points.

Regardless of which team had the correct question, play then moves to Team B. Team B now chooses a Category and Point Amount.

Once again, if they can't provide the correct question, Team A has an opportunity to do so.

For the next item, play moves back to Team A, and so on.

The team with the most points wins Country Day NYC Jeopardy.
